What is Mylan 152? What kind of medication is the
white scored round tablet with "MYLAN 152" imprinted on the front side
(the other side is blank)?
Mylan 152 is Clonidine 0.1 mg pill.
The medicine is used to treat hypertension.
It acts in the brain affecting the level of
certain chemicals and thus allowing blood vessels to relax, so that
blood could flow more easily and heart could beat more slowly.
Clonidine can be used for other purposes, too, though they are not
approved by the FDA. They include treatment of painful menstrual
periods, menopausal flushing, diabetic diarrhea, Tourette's Syndrome,
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), postherpetic neuralgia,
ulcerative colitis, and withdrawal symptoms from dependence on
narcotics, alcohol, or nicotine (smoking).
Each Mylan 152 tablet contains 0.1 mg of Clonidine - half the strength
as compared to Mylan 186 tablet. Clonidine
is also available with a prescription under the brand names
Catapres and Duraclon (these tablets look different from Mylan 152
Clonidine version).
You benefit directly when Mylan Generics are used in place of
name-brand medicines. First, because you will be receiving a high
quality medicine, and second, because Mylan Generics, including Mylan
152 tablets, are generally more affordable.
The manufacturing facilities of all pharmaceutical companies - those
making name-brand drugs and those making equivalent alternatives - are
routinely inspected by the FDA. These savings are the result of Mylan's
good, old-fashioned, American competition. As you can well appreciate,
when there is more than one company manufacturing and/or selling the
same product, the competition generally results in cost savings for the
consumer.
However, you may try and order Clonidine marketed by
other manufacturers, too!
