Mylan 5211 Green Capsule

What is Mylan 5211? What kind of medication is the green capsule with "MYLAN 5211" written on its sides?

Mylan 5211 capsule is Omeprazole (generic Prilosec) 10 mg. The medicine is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. The capsules may look slightly different as the green color can be darker or lighter in different batches. However, each capsule has "MYLAN 5211" imprinted in white, light blue, or bluish-green on both sides. Mylan 5211 capsules are usually available in packs of 30.

Mylan's Omeprazole is also available in 20 mg and 40 mg strengths as Mylan 6150 and Mylan 5222 capsules.

Omeprazole was first marketed in the US under the brand name Losec in 1989. In 1990, at the request of FDA, the brand name Losec was changed to Prilosec to avoid confusion with the diuretic Lasix (Furosemide, see Mylan 216).
